Walnut Farming Information Guide
JANUARY: The plant is in resting situation. Well-burned animal manure is spread surrounding and placed on the soil.
FEBRUARY: The plant is in sleeping situation. Well-burned animal manure is spread surrounding and mixed with the soil. The slips are taken on the days without frost, and stored in a cool place. Cleft vaccination is made.
MARCH: The plants are prepared to come up. Claret red slurry is spread. Cleft vaccination is started on the plant. It is time for plant budding. The budded locations are closed with vaccination paste.
APRIL: The plant accelerates the root works. It starts to come up. Vaccination is continued, chemical fertilization is made according to the soil analysis. It is time for plant budding. The budded locations are closed with vaccination paste. Irrigation starts.
MAY: Irrigation continues, weeding continues in the greenhouses. The vaccinations are unlaced.
JUNE: Irrigation is continued, eye cutting starts, if there is fertilization program, fertilization is continued.
JULY: Irrigation is continued, eye cutting is made.
AUGUST: Irrigation is continued, stable patch budding starts. The chemical fertilizers are not used, unless necessary.
SEPTEMBER: Irrigation program ends, stable patch budding is continued. The walnut fruits which starts to crack, are began to be harvested. Stable and patch budding continues.
OCTOBER: Harvesting continues with shaking and collecting method.
NOVEMBER: The walnut plant starts to enter into the sleeping period, the deciduous leaves are collected and burned out of the nursery.
DECEMBER: It is the sleeping period of the plant. Animal manure may be spread.
